The speed of algolia is fantastic, we send data and it syncs quickly. Responses are in milliseconds.

Figuring out how to do database syncing is tricky. We have somewhat realtime information we need to send and sometimes indexing speeds are >10 seconds which is a bummer.

Ultimately we are using algolia for global search. We're also using it for a few landing pages for users to browse their items.

Overal it's a very modern feeling service. Great documentation including good examples. I was up and running in about an hour, including integrating it with a static site build process and a basic front end.

So far there's nothing to dislike. I'm not sure how well the pricing scales for production but for my limited traffic site it's perfect.

I needed a search service that I could use with a static jamstack site with no access to a database. Algol is filled that need perfectly, and at no cost for my small use case.

It needs minimum amount of setup and boilerplate code. Has a generous free plan for small scale applications. Provides backend-instantSearch so that result can be fine tuned further. Comes with good default theme for frontend.

Deleting or modifying existing records is not that easy, also documentation regarding the same is not very straightforward. Comes only with one readymade theme.

When developing on the local machine, it might take hundreds of calls to the API, which comes out of the quota. Local emulators would help. Although it is possible to create search requests with authentication filters to make sure users get only permitted results, this whole process could be simplified. For instance, today, it requires me to have some server in the middle to generate the token, and if it were part of the Algolia services, it would be helpful.

Can use it from simple data storage solution to adding a powerful search experience to end-users and all this from the same index.

There are lot of users that would like to use algolia for booking services in a certain geographical position. Problem is that there's no way to filter the results by their date availability. Algolia doesn't support this use case and it is suggesting to use another database for this purpose.

Needle search in the haystack. Algolia gives excellent performance and efficiency in terms of cost and time.

I like the speed of the queries and along with the web UI provided for configuring indexes. There are lots of parameters to make the searches work as you expected, even with misspelled inputs. I like the idea of creating replicas of your data with different parameters for different search use cases. It then becomes very clear which index you wish to use later on and so you receive predictable outcomes.

I don't like the react plugin for instant search, at least the version I am on right now, because it is very difficult to clear the cache for the results. In my use case, the fields on the data change regularly. The results will return the old values until the entire component is unloaded and then reloaded. I also wish the logs were easier to filter and review in the web browser. Currently, I have the best results when I pull down all the logs locally and filter the text with another program. It would be nice to see more results on the browser, or be able to filter them by the contents of the operation.

Full-text fuzzy search is why we depend on Algolia. Being able to combine multiple data sets in one index is great for discoverability. Firestore lacks many querying features and so pairing it with Algolia covers our needs, though it does complicate things a bit and increase our bill.

Algolia is a slightly expensive tool but provides better services than its competitors. Also doesn't seem to work well with unstructured data, also when your systems are on-premise you would leverage Algolia features, unfortunately.

I really like the simplitity of algolia. It is easy to use and implement in various scenarios.

Now, after using Algolia for some time, there isn't much that I don't like. But one thing was a bit confusing at first for me: The Unit system. It was first hard to understand for me, that these units are used for both search querys and index records. Maybe a bit clearer description would be helpful there.

The biggest benefit I have over other solutions (for example ElasticSearch) is, that there are official, first-party search UI frameworks. Others have something simmilar as well, but by far not so feature rich. Especially React InstantSearch was a big time saver implementing search in our project.

Algolia matches sub-string by default, if there was an option to match query with a full word or a sub-string that would be great, this would give developers the power to flip the option on or off depending on a condition programatically. I would like to see this feature in near future, and can't wait to implement it. I hope that I am notified about the addition of this feature via mail when it is added

Algolia is what I was looking for, it provides some pretty good search experience terms. I like that it is very easy to use and add information, the interface is easy to use, and the documentation is clear. It represents a major advance over the original search tool, it is hosted, flexible, and scales very well.

Few details present, it is a good tool. The cost is a bit high, plus there are customization issues without development help. Size limitations are a big problem and splitting larger objects into a single entity seems like something that should be managed.
